Darryl Qualls
Retired Deputy Police Chief, City of Pasadena (CA) Police Department – Darryl has dedicated his life to issues of equity and inclusion for nearly 30 years. He has sat on non-profit boards such as Day One, a Pasadena based empowerment agency and the Pasadena Police Activities League (PAL). He was instrumental in creating the Pasadena/Altadena Reintegration Council which helps the formerly incarcerated transition into the community upon their return home.
He was a Claremont (CA) Police Commissioner for eight years and served on police oversight work groups and committees around Los Angeles County. Darryl and his wife were the former owners of an African-American art gallery and framing store in California. He currently teaches as an adjunct instructor with California P.O.S.T in the area of Leadership and Principled Policing.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Azusa Pacific University and a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences (Conflict Resolution and Management) from California State University Dominguez Hills. Darryl also attended and holds a Management Certificate from the Senior Management Institute for Police from Harvard University.
Keith Roberts
Keith holds a master’s degree in Organizational Management, from Azusa Pacific University, and completed the Executive Program in Counterterrorism, at the U.S. Homeland Security’s National Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE), at the University of Southern California. Keith is the recipient of a Fulbright-Hays award and participated in the UCLA Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad, in Morocco.
Brian Biery
Brian is an Adjunct Professor at Pacific Oaks College where he teaches courses on Advocacy/Social Justice and Human Development. In addition, he possesses over 25 years of experience in neighborhood/community organizing, nonprofit management, youth development, and public service.
Currently, he serves as an Associate with The Aspire Group which is a firm that specializes in innovative organizational effectiveness with an emphasis for working in and with diverse communities. He is also the Principal of Brian Biery Consulting which is dedicated to assisting nonprofits to reach their organizational, programmatic and leadership goals. And he writes articles regularly for the L.A. Progressive and Culture Honey on politics and civic engagement, has had his photographs published in numerous newspapers and magazines, and is currently the host of the ‘Power of One’ cable TV program broadcast weekly on the Arroyo Channel.
He earned a Master’s Degree in Spanish from Middlebury College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He also holds a certificate in Leadership, Organizing and Action from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
